Wow, I’ve really been neglecting this blog… Apparently my last post was a review of Paint it Pretty polishes as well! My excuse is… I went to China, and then I started my first job ever and… I’m just too lazy to type up what I’ll probably make a video tutorial of anyway. But, reviews are always a ton of fun on this blog!
Today I have three gorgeous polishes to show you all, and a lot of pictures because all three of these demand to be mattified! Veroeska of Paint it Pretty has conjured up some delicious micro flakies and iridescent goodness that I’m happy to show you all today. They came wrapped in tissue paper that had holographic glitters in it! Ahh! I staged them in a creative(ly dumb) way, with sand to give off a summer vibe! And no, I did not lug these to a beach to get this photo.
First off is “Oh Yes She Did”, a berry pink/fuschia/magenta micro flakie polish that holds a ton of gorgeous blue shimmer and flash. The first coat is pretty sheer, but the second and third top it right up to become nice and fully opaque and shimmery. The formula is thinner and jelly-like and loaded with these teeny tiny flakes, and it really reminds me of cool berry gum or mints, or something of that sort. You know those Icebreakers mints that are fruity but still minty? Yeah, just like that. It’s a lovely refreshing colour, especially for those who don’t love the super punchy in your face way that other hot pinks look.
The name of this polish seemed like something Happy Bunny would say, so I painted one! Did anyone else love these posters as a kid?
And of course, I mattified it. I almost prefer it matte, so that the blue flash comes through more strongly.
Next up is “Out of This World”, a lime/grass green micro flakie with gold/yellow flash and shimmer. This polish reminds me of freshly cut, freshly watered grass in the summer that’s dappled with sunlight. This one is a three coater too, to cover up any patches that two coats might leave.These flakies in the jelly formula are mesmerizing to look at. They kind of float around and shine, these polishes have so much depth!
Going with the summer theme, I painted some sort of yellowish flower that complimented the colours in this polish.
And this is how it is matte. Again, I prefer it mattified to show off the flash.
Lastly is “Rainbow at Midnight”, a glitter bomb toppper loaded with black and iridescent glitters in so many sizes and shapes I lost count! None of the glitters are ridiculously big, so there’s no need to worry about sinking or needing to place glitters. Its just a beautiful even mix that could work on any base colour. I opted to show what it looks like on white and black, which really illustrates the versatility of this polish – on white, rainbows are subtle but the black glitters really pop, and on black the iridescent glitters and flakes really make a stunning appearance. The variety of iridescence makes this polish own up to it’s name. It really is like a rainbow! Shown is ONE coat on each nail, and top coat to smooth it out.
I mattified these as well – I could go either way, but I do prefer the black base to the white!
Overally, I am impressed again with the quality and beauty of Veroeska’s polishes. She did a wonderful job! My favourite would have to be Rainbow at Midnight – what’s yours?
