Snowflake Nails… In March!

So, @nailsbyjoha is having an intriguing giveaway with Butter London to give away their High Tea collection, which looks absolutely lovely and I want it. I made an entry! It’s inspired by my red snowflake mug, which is normally reserved for hot chocolate (I mean come on, look at it!) but can also work for tea as well. 🙂

Ladybug Nails

Wow, two posts in one day! Go me. This one is about cute little ladybug nails that I did in a maniswap with another nail art fanatic on Instagram. Check it out if you’d like, because Instagram is bomb.

Anyway, these are super cute and great for the spring or summer, I’d say. Ladybugs are one of very few insects that can fly around without scaring the actual crap out of me, because they’re just so darn harmless (and good for plants!). They’re pretty and quiet, but they taste really bad… I was an extremely curious child.

Summer Floral Nail Art

Ahh, summer. I’d sport these nails poolside with big, sexy sunglasses and a bathing suit of your choice. Speaking of bathing suits, I’m a fan of the high-waisted bikini, but don’t they make weird tan lines? Anyway, picture this: You lounge on a fluffy beach towel sprawled across sand so white and fine it could be sugar. The horizon is met with the clear blue waters of a shallow tropical sea. The sun warms your skin and a gentle breeze kisses it with cool refreshment. You have your favourite cool drink in your hand, your body lazily propped up by your elbows. Palm trees sway to the rhythm of the wind and you hear faint music from a celebration nearby. You likey? This is what these nails remind me of.

They were inspired by the amazingly talented @lynieczka on Instagram, who often posts beautiful designs that I frequently want to copy. What can I say? I’m a sucker for floral print. It looks great on your nails and terrible on Hawaiian tourist shirts.

I love the colours of summer. Neons, pastels, florals, and wacky stand-out designs that other seasons wouldn’t be able to pull off. Autumn and neon, for example, would be a disaster waiting to happen. Autumn loves maroon and fiery colours, all the way down the spectrum to a plum purple. Maybe some muted cooler colours too, like navy blue and forest green. Maybe. Winter is even more muted, as darker colours stand out against the pale whitewash of snow. Or if you’re in Texas, the dead yellow grass. So dark reds and dark everything, regardless of the colour, make their way into the sweaters that I adore. Winter has its own miracle – the ugly Christmas sweater, which wouldn’t survive the less dimly lit scrutiny of other seasons. And spring is all about things that are sweet – pastels, mainly, which bleed into the happy sunshine of summer. Brighter colours make their debut, but they’re still semi-serious with memories of winter’s chill. Save the crazy stuff (I’m talking to you, neon zebra print) for summer.
